MSI presents X870 motherboards to complement AMD’s Ryzen 9000

Shortly after AMD announced the launch of its next-generation Ryzen 9000 series processors at Computex 2024, MSI unveiled new motherboards for the chipsets. MSI’s X870 line of motherboards feature cutting-edge technologies, unleashing the full potential of the new Ryzen chipsets. The company will share pricing and availability details in due course.

MSI launches X870 line of motherboards for AMD’s Ryzen 9000 processors

AMD’s latest flagship desktop processors feature Zen 5 architecture, delivering a 16% increase in IPC (instructions per cycle/clock) performance. The lineup is headlined by the Ryzen 9 9950X, which the company says delivers “the world’s fastest consumer desktop performance.” It has a 16-core CPU (32 threads) clocked up to 5.7 GHz, 80 MB total cache, PCIe Gen 5, and 170 W TDP.

The lineup also includes the 12-core Ryzen 9 9900X (5.6 GHz), the 8-core Ryzen 7 9700X (5.5 GHz), and the 6-core Ryzen 5 9600X (5.4 GHz). All four variants feature PCIe Gen 5. MSI says its X870 motherboards perfectly complement the new Ryzen 9000 processors. The solutions feature PCIe Gen 5.0 and M.2 slots, enabling ultra-fast speeds for graphics cards and storage devices.

MSI’s X870 motherboards also feature USB 4 connectivity, offering speeds of up to 40GB per second. In addition, the company has equipped the MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI and the PRO Whether you’re multitasking or gaming, your setup is equipped to handle your connectivity requirements with ease.

In addition to power and performance, MSI has also focused on ease of assembly. The company says that the enormous size and weight of the GPUs can overload the motherboard. Therefore, it offers three additional anchor points and uses thicker material for the PCIe slots, making them 121% stronger than previous generation solutions. The slots can support twice the weight of the graphics card than before.

MSI also updated the Wi-Fi antenna module with a quick release mechanism. Additionally, the M.2 SSD storage slot features a new screwless design for effortless assembly and removal of storage chips. “A simple squeeze of the side latch” is enough to open the Screwless M.2 Frozr. “Installation is just as simple: a simple push locks the M.2 SSD in place, while removal requires just a slight pull to the left,” MSI said.

A market launch should be just around the corner

AMD plans to open sales of the Ryzen 9000 series processors later this month. MSI may also launch its X870 line of motherboards around the same time so that new PC buyers can purchase all the components at once. Precise details on the price and availability of the new chips and motherboards will be published soon. Stay tuned for more exciting product launches and announcements at Computex 2024.
