Passersby try to break car window to save trapped driver who lost consciousness after accident, Singapore News

A group of bystanders have been praised for helping an unconscious driver trapped in his car following a crash.

A video circulating on social media shows two men trying to break the window of an SUV that had mounted a sidewalk.

They can be seen using what looks like a piece of heavy-duty metal hardware to break the windows, but they were unable to do so in that brief 14-second clip.

Police and the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) told AsiaOne that they were alerted to an accident involving two cars near the junction of Bukit Timah Road and Kampong Java Road at around 8.45am last Wednesday (May 15). ).

SCDF told AsiaOne that some members of the public were performing CPR on a person when it arrived at the scene of the accident.

Emergency medical services personnel took over resuscitation efforts and transported the 45-year-old driver to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Two other people, a 71-year-old driver and his 42-year-old passenger, were taken to Raffles Hospital.

SCDF said they will contact members of the public who provided assistance to commend them for their civic spirit.

Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
