Naughton avoids surgery after undergoing scans on injured knee

Aaron Naughton has avoided a knee reconstruction in a huge relief for the Western Bulldogs.

Scans this morning revealed an MCL strain which is expected to keep the star sidelined for 4-6 weeks.

It may be the best possible outcome for Naughton, who appeared to be in serious trouble when he was caught in a tackle in the first half of Thursday night’s loss to Sydney.

Rather than being out of the game for 12 months, the Dogs are hopeful the goalkeeper will return to action following his Round 15 break.
