President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Essikado-Ketan Member of Parliament Joe Ghartey as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ghana Revenue Authority.

This decision was made following the resignation of former GRA Board Chairman Tony Oteng-Gyasi and the dismissal of former GRA Commissioner General Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah.

Following these changes, Julie Essiam was appointed as the new Commissioner-General of the GRA by President Akufo-Addo.

The Ministry of Finance has announced that the newly reconstituted and inaugurated GRA Board will be chaired by Hon. Joe Ghartey.

Other members include Dr. Alex Ampaabeng, Ms. Julie Essiam, Hon. Micheal Okyere Baafi, Mrs Elsie Addo Awadzi, Mrs Susan Akomea, Mrs Araba Bosomtwe and Mr Kwabena Abankwah Yeboah.

Finance Minister Dr Mohammed Amin Adam has instructed the new GRA Board to use the current digitalisation drive to streamline tax administration and reduce reliance on “human interventions”.

The new GRA Board has also been tasked with increasing ongoing efforts aimed at fully implementing the Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS); develop officer capacity; and improve the quality of data analysis for informed decision making.
