The EFL explains why Derby County are once again among the ‘leaders’

Derby County chief executive Stephen Pearce has praised the club’s “passionate and motivated” staff after the club scooped the Football League’s Family Excellence Gold Award.

The Rams are just one of 13 EFL clubs to have been awarded the top award which rewards clubs for their way of engaging families on match days.

Sixty-eight clubs achieved recognition, a record for the program this season, and clubs were rewarded with gold, silver or bronze depending on the experience they provide.

Upon receiving the award, Pearce said: “We are delighted to have achieved the Family Excellence Gold Award for the 2023/24 season.

“A lot of work has been done behind the scenes to improve and enhance our match day experience, especially for children and young people who attend matches with their families and who are starting their journey supporting the club, and so we know how important it is to provide a safe and welcoming environment at Pride Park Stadium.

“Seeing hard work pay off by being one of just 13 EFL clubs to achieve Gold status is testament to the efforts of our passionate and motivated staff.
